We collect log information when you use our Services.
- Usage Information: We collect information about your usage of our Services. For example, we collect information about the actions that site administrators and users perform on a site–in other words, who did what, when and to what thing on a site (e.g., [username] deleted “[content]” at [time/date]). We also collect information about what happens when you use our Services along with information about your device (e.g., mobile screen size, name of cellular network, and mobile device manufacturer). Aggregated Data. We may also collect, use and share “Aggregated Data” for any purpose. Aggregated Data may be derived from your Personal Data, but once in aggregated form it will not constitute Personal Data as this data does not directly or indirectly reveal your identity. However, if we combine or connect Aggregated Data with your Personal Data so that it can directly or indirectly identify you, we treat the combined data as Personal Data which will be used in accordance with this Privacy & Cookies Policy.
No Special Categories of Personal Data. We do not collect any “Special Categories of Personal Data” about you (this includes details about your race or ethnicity, religious or philosophical beliefs, sexual orientation, political opinions, trade union membership). Nor do we collect any information about criminal convictions and offences.
Children’s Data. We do not knowingly solicit personal information of children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information of and from children under the age of 16. If we learn that a child under the age of 16 has provided us with personal information without parental consent, we will take steps to delete it.
How we use cookies and other tracking or profiling technologies
Spike may collect non-personally identifiable information regarding your usage of our Websites, including the pages you viewed, time spent using the website, demographic data such as server locations, connection speed, and other information that does not identify you. Like most online services, we also use cookies and other technologies that may collect Personal Data.
Cookies:
What are cookies? When you visit our Websites, we may send one or more “cookies” – small data files – to your computer to uniquely identify your browser and let Spike help you enhance your navigation through the Website.
A cookie may convey anonymous information about how you browse the Services to us so we can provide you with a more personalized experience, but does not collect personal information about you. A persistent cookie remains on your computer after you close your browser so that it can be used by your browser on subsequent visits to the Service. Persistent cookies can be removed by following your web browser’s directions. A session cookie is temporary and disappears after you close your browser.
What types of cookies do we use? Our Site use the following types of cookies for the purposes set out below:
Type of cookie | Purpose |
Essential Cookies | These cookies are essential to provide you with services available through our Websites and to enable you to use some of its features. For example, they allow you to log in to secure areas of our Websites and help the content of the pages you request to load quickly. Without these cookies, the Services that you have asked for cannot be provided, and we only use these cookies to provide you with those services. |
Security Cookies | These cookies enable and support our security features, and to help us detect malicious activity. |
Functionality Cookies | These cookies allow our Websites to remember choices you make when you use our Websites, such as remembering your login details and remembering the changes you make to other parts of our Websites which you can customize. The purpose of these cookies is to provide you with a more personal experience and to avoid you having to re-enter your preferences every time you visit our Websites. |
Analytics and Performance Cookies | These cookies are used to collect information about traffic to our Websites and how users use our Site. The information gathered via these cookies does not “directly” identify any individual visitor. However, it may render such visitors “indirectly identifiable”. This is because the information collected is typically linked to a pseudonymous identifier associated with the device you use to access our Site. The information collected is aggregated and anonymous. We use this information to help operate our Site more efficiently, to gather broad demographic information and to monitor the level of activity on our Site. We use a number of different tools such as Google Analytics for this purpose. |
How can I disable cookies? You can typically reset your web browser to refuse all cookies or to notify you when a cookie is being sent. In order to do this, follow the instructions provided by your browser (usually located within the “settings”, “help” “tools” or “edit” facility). Many browsers are set to accept cookies until you change your settings.
If you do not accept our cookies, you may experience some inconvenience in your use of our Services and some features of the Service may not function properly.
Further information about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set on your computer or mobile device and how to manage and delete them, visit www.allaboutcookies.org.
Log Files: Log file information is automatically reported by your browser each time you access a web page. When you use the Websites, our servers automatically record certain information your web browser sends whenever you visit any website. These server logs may include information such as your web request, Internet Protocol address, browser type, referring / exit pages and URLs, location, domain names, pages viewed, and other such information.
Third Party Services: Spike uses third-party services such as Google Analytics to help understand/improve the use of our Websites. These services typically collect the information sent by your browser as part of a web page request, including cookies and your IP address. They receive this information and their use of it is governed by their respective privacy policies. You can also prevent the use of Google Analytics relating to your use of our Services by downloading and installing the browser plugin available via this link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en-GB.
How We Use Your Personal Data and Why

In respect of each of the purposes for which we use your Personal Data, the GDPR requires us to ensure that we have a legal basis for that use if you are within the EU. The legal bases depend on the Services you use and how you use them. This means we collect and use your Personal Data only where:
- We need it to provide you the Services, including to operate the Services, provide customer support and personalized features and to protect the safety and security of the Services;
- It satisfies a legitimate interest (which is not overridden by your data protection interests), such as for research and development, to market and promote the Services and to protect our legal rights and interests; or

What happens when you do not provide necessary Personal Data? Where we need to process your Personal Data either to comply with law, or to perform the terms of a contract we have with you and you fail to provide that data when requested, we may not be able to perform the contract we have or are trying to enter into with you (for example, to provide you with the functionalities of the Services).
